Marsha Winer, matchmaker extraordinaire, lover of dogs, dancing and dark chocolate, passed away in the early morning of March 6th at the Jewish Home in San Francisco. She had never recovered from a terrible fall in 2020, suffering multiple broken bones and another fall in July 2024, leaving her fully disabled.
Marsha was born in Detroit, the middle child ("Daughter #1") of Millie and Bernie Winer, of blessed memory. She was a sheltered child due to a congenital bone disease but blossomed into a strong-willed, independent woman with an entrepreneurial spirit and determination to succeed. She earned a Masters Degree in Counseling before moving to California for better weather and opportunities. She lived in Marin County.
In 1983, Marsha created a San Francisco Bay Area personalized dating service which started as The Jewish Connection, then morphed into Marsha the Matchmaker and then Introductions by Marsha. She devoted herself to helping her clients find TRUE LOVE with many marriages resulting. (over 200!) She danced at many of their weddings.
In her final year, she was helped by Jewish Family and Children Services and By the Bay Health Hospice. She will be missed by her family, brother David and wife, Marguerite and sister Barbara and husband, Joram, and many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews, cousins, clients, caregivers and close friends. She has joined in eternity with John, Marvin, Owen and her rescued "pupsters" Missy and Chloe. May her name and memory always be a blessing.
