Ivo Attias Adam died on November 21, 2021 in Oakland, California. He is survived by his beloved daughters Gal Adam Spinrad (David) and Sharon Dovas (Ariel), grandchildren Dahlia Spinrad, Judah Spinrad, and Zetta Dovas, his brother Giorgio Favia, and his former spouse Orit Adam.

Ivo was born on June 28, 1943 in Alexandria, Egypt where he grew up speaking French, Arabic and English. He moved to Italy in his teens, learning the language and adopting the country as his home -- he would proudly say that citizenship is defined by the fútbol team you support. His twenties brought him to Greece and then Israel, where he lived on a kibbutz and learned beekeeping, a hobby he continued for decades. He studied economics at Hebrew University in Jerusalem and repaired television sets and then typewriters. This path took him to the emerging world of computers, defining his career for the next 35 years. He and his family moved to France in the early 1970s, where Ivo's career in the international sales of computer storage grew. In 1978, his work brought the family to the Silicon Valley where they built their life in Palo Alto.

As Ivo's life unfolded, two of his most devoted roles were that of single father to his daughters and beloved nonno to his grandchildren. He spoke half a dozen languages and traveled extensively throughout his life, but found a sense of home in the familiar Mediterranean climate of Northern California. Ivo was an avid reader, a lover of history, geography and politics, and an appreciator of art. He enjoyed good food, a short espresso, a nap on a hammock, time with his daughters and grandchildren, and helping friends and family. He was extraordinarily generous with his connections, his time, his energy and his love; he was fueled by giving to others and believed that there was always a way to make things happen. His hearty laugh and big heart will be missed by family and friends across the globe.

Ivo was laid to rest on a crisp sunny day under a magnolia tree at Eternal Home Cemetery in Colma, California on November 23, 2021.

The family invites those who wish to make donations in Ivo's memory, to give to one of the charities linked above.
